Much can be said about
bluegrass and country music star, Mac Wiseman, but it is in the
listening one senses his true story. Possessive of one of the
most expressive, unique voices in the industry, Mac gives of
his heart and soul in each performance. Without being told, the
listener knows here is a man who has known tragedy, a childhood
bout with polo left him with a limp that he still has today.
Yet, a man who has experienced the joys of life as well as the
tears... one who appreciates that the true meaning of life lies
not in the material acquisitions but the acquiring of good friends
and in helping others.
Mac Wiseman's lengthy career, which began
just as he entered his teens, reads like a storybook journey
through musical icon history... such as playing with Molly O'Day's
group; playing on her first recording sessions; being chosen
by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs in the formation of their "Foggy
Mountain Boys"; Mac's decision to join with Bill Monroe
and then forming his own band, "The Country Boys" to
become a regular on the Louisiana Hayride. Soon afterward, he
hit recording stardom on his own with "Jimmy Brown the Newsboy",
"Tis Sweet to be Remembered" and many other songs,
now considered classics. His career is really quite a read but
what is not sometimes said - the disappointments, the moments
of deep frustration and the inevitable hurtful occasions - are
never referred to. These challenges add to depth of emotion and
the expressiveness of the voice, which are all very evident in
the magnificent vocal performances of Mac Wiseman.
Mac Wiseman is a classic, a class act,
a bluegrass and country music great, possessing a great sense
of humour and a deep well of emotion which he employs to make
every performance sound new and special.
Mac Wiseman will always epitomize country
music. An entertainer, a voice, a musician, a start without equal...
"The Voice with a Heart."
